Curtains Are Fun

Yesterday I got to use the sewing machine to attack curtains. The french door in between the Living Room and the Sun Room got my attention this time. My husband took me to Menard's yesterday and we got 4 curtain rods about $2/rod. Neato!
The pic on the left top shows how the curtains used to hang. When you opened the door the curtain got in the way. It was annoying and not very pretty.
So I hauled out the sewing machine, Thank you Colleen, and hemmed both of the curtains to 73". My husband attached the curtain rods to the top of the door and we hung the curtains, then he put in the rod on the bottom. I had cut off some of the extra material from the bottom of the curtain and I made a "sash" to tie around the curtains so they look cooler than if they just hung there. I also leftovers to make a "tube" filled with stuffing stolen from an old torn toss pillow to put along the bottom of the french door and block the cold air from coming in. (if you click on the pic and look at the pic in the lower right hand corner you can see it along the bottom of the door). Change is good, huh?

I am soooo glad you know how to sew and know how to alter curtains, because, Baby, have I got a (small, well, little bigger than this) job for you!! Please call me to set up a time to bring My Machine home to Mama and help me sew and rehang the living room and my bedroom sheers. And then if we are having fun we can move on to Colleen's room and fix hers. And then, if we are still having fun and even talking to each other we can replace the sorry excuse for curtains that hang in Dad's office (literally hang in shreds - now that would be a great before and after picture). Of course, then I might have to clean and dust and organize - oh, wait, that's Mindi's expertise, right? I knew it was good to have daughters! I promise to provide lunch - Taco Bell, anyone? - on said working day!

Sorry Mom, Colly never told me it was your machine, but it's mine now, Dad said I could keep it last night! I would love to help you with your curtains, although I hate hanging the sheer ones, I can hem like a pro. Let's just make all new curtains for the office... We could go to Fields Fabrics and pick out a whole new color...

Remember, you get your impulsiveness From Your Dad! And I always get to overrule his impulsive comments - thats how we have managed to stay married for so many years! But I am a good Sharer.....

Anytime you want it, come get it. I keep it in the closet in the office with the rest of the craft stuff.
